In this episode we visited recent and coming releases from Manifest, Forcefed Horsehead and Shaving the Werewolf. We also found a vinyl at a local record shop when traveling, and got to know the Iranian grindcore/warpunk band Aneraxt.

This episode was first aired on January 25, 2026 as a segment in the Symphonium metal radio show.

The bands

Manifest - Manufactured Lie

Manifest is a farily established, and well known band in the Norwegian underground scene. Originally from Trondheim, but now located a bit spread around the globe, they have been active since the early 2000's. Their first album «Half Past Violence» was released in 2005.

Last autumn it was re-released, for the first time on vinyl, and that's a good reason to revisit this great album.

The track «Manufactured Lie» is taken from the vinyl re-release of «Half Past Violence» by Manifest.

You can find «Half Past Violence» on Bandcamp, though I do recommend the vinyl!

Manifest - The Origins (of BeeBee & BB)

The latest release by Manifest, «The Sinking», was released in 2022, and is also a great album that deserves some more attention. From this album we played the opening track «The Origins (of BeeBee & BB)».

You can also find «The Sinking» on Bandcamp, but again I recommend the vinyl!

Forcefed Horsehead - The Will of the Many

Forcefed Horsehead is a hardcore/grindcore band from Oslo, and has also been active in the scene for a long time. Late December last year they released a new track for their upcoming split with Shaving the Werewolf, another Oslo band.

The track «The Will of the Many» was released on December 20, and can be found on Bandcamp.

Shaving the Werewolf - Junk Food

Shaving the Werewolf is an intense live act, also in the hardcore/grindcore landscape. They have been active in the Oslo scene for years. I thought the coming split with Forcefed Horsehead was just as good a reason to play a track by Shaving the Werewolf as well.

The track «Junk Food» is taken from their 2024 release «God Whisper.»

You can find Shaving the Werewolf on Bandcamp.

Tungtrødd - Ella

Tungtrødd is a band I discovered while visiting the small north-western town of Molde. Found their EP «Dunder og Brak» from 2020 at a local record shop/pub. This is wide legged heavy rock with lyrics centered on local events and everyday life for a rural rock'n'roll lifestyle. Old cars, motorcycles and leather jackets feel perfectly apropriate here.

Probably most fun for locals of the area, but the music is both well performed and with enough hooks and twists to make it an enjoyable listening in my ears as well.

The track «Ella» is the opening track of the EP, which of course id available on vinyl. (Though I do suspect you have to visit the same record shop as I did to find it.)

Tungtrødd don't seem to have any website or Bandcamp page, but they do have some tracks out on Soundcloud.

Cover art for Shaving the Aneraxt - Not Title They Killed More Than 12.000 in 4 Days

Aneraxt (Iran) - No Title They Killed More than 12,000 in 4 days

I came across the Iranian band Aneraxt by chance via a contact in the fediverse. Aneraxt is a one man project by a person calling themselved Nihil Satan. The music is labeled as Warpunk, and is an intense mixture of grindcore, black metal and industrial punk/metal. They seem to release music in response to unrest and war in Iran.

The single «No Title They Killed More than 12,000 in 4 days» was released in response to the brutal blowbacks from the Iranian regime on the still ongoing demonstrations for more democracy. The brutality of the music speaks for itself.

You can find more info about Anreaxt on their website, and also find the music on Bandcamp.
